43% of French people still believe that it is possible to divorce without a court decision

It is possible to divorce without going through legal proceedings, according to 43% of French people, against 55% who know that it is impossible: this is the finding of a BVA study for the Chamber of Notaries of France, made public on Monday 23 January. Once informed, 80% would like there to be no need for a judgment in the event of a divorce, when both parties agree.

This survey was carried out on December 16 and 17, 2011 by telephone, as part of Family Rights Information Week (February 13 to 17, 2012), among 971 people over the age of 18.
