An app to find out what's hidden in our cosmetics

The association UFC-Que Choisir has just launched an application allowing to know the exact composition of our cosmetics in a few clicks.

All the departments are present: face, body, hair care, dental hygiene, make-up, etc., with nearly 6,000 cosmetics already evaluated. Among them, almost one in two products contains, according to UFC-Que Choisir, one or more undesirable ingredients such as endocrine disruptors, allergens or even irritating substances.

To check your products on the application, nothing could be simpler: you just have to scan the barcode and "QuelCosmetic" quickly identifies the composition, through a color code. Red for risky molecules, orange for medium-risk molecules and green for risk-free molecules.

If you discover, for example, that your face cream is a dangerous product, the application offers an alternative list of products not containing the ingredients to avoid. Products not necessarily more expensive. The body and face care products from Lidl and Auchan, evaluated on the application, account for example, respectively 86% and 82% of the products without risks. And if your scanned product does not appear in the list, you can add it immediately and simply, to enrich the database. You will receive in a few days, by email, the result of the composition of your product.

"QuelCosmetic" thus joins the "eco-responsible" trend which aims to produce healthy products that respect the body and the environment. The application is available for free on Android and Iphone.
